Magic: the Gathering News for November 2003
MODO Mirrodin Migraines
Last night I logged onto MODO and jumped into an OLS draft to kill some time. I hadn’t logged on in a while, and it felt strange. My mind reeled, wondering, “Why the hell are my cards face down…oh, right, that morph thing.” I was largely unable to comprehend the strange borders and lack of silvery looking cards. It really felt like I hadn’t drafted Onslaught in months.
Where Are They Now: Is There Life After Magic Super-Stardom?
The world of sports, even intellectual sports such as Magic, moves ever onward. Superstars rise and fall, but the game continues. What of those left in its wake? As the game moves, so does the attention of the fans. People fall through the cracks when the spotlight moves, and frequently their stories are worth telling. What follows is a series of encounters with five forgotten heroes. Be warned – These are not happy tales, for the cost of the loss of adoration is high.

Sorry this week’s horoscopes are running a little bit behind schedule, although we all know that you would have spent your Wednesday sitting around getting fatter and playing Modo either way. Here’s what to expect this week, hope it works out for the best for all of you.

Wizards Announces Online “1800 Room” to be Phased into “1598 Room”

Magic: It’s Rant-tastic!
Another month, another bunch of stuff to complain about! Don’t worry, though, I plan on doing an above-average amount of complimenting in this rant (which could mean anywhere from one to two positive statements).
Magic: the Gathering Horoscopes (Nov 5 - Nov 11)
So it turns out your Tower of Champions/Tinker deck was a few cards off the optimal build given the metagame at New Orleans. But before you hit up the PTQ’s again, here’s what the fates have lined up for you this week.
Sketches: Walt Disney Concert Hall
Internationally renowned architect Frank Gehry was commissioned to produce a larger than life representation of a leonine den in conjunction with the release of Mirrodin. Ever the pragmatist, the results of his efforts culminated not just in a towering home of white mana, but also an acclaimed Concert Hall in the heart of Los Angeles.
