73% of Indiana Mages not Aware of "Main Phase B"

By: stevegossett - December 12, 2001

Unlike the often forgotten "Untap" and "Draw" phase, most Indiana players appear to not even recognize the post-combat main phase. Fred Dooley, a local player, was asked about the phases of Magic, "Well in general you pick up a card from your stack, play your creatures, fight, and then take mana burn."

More often seen is the "Rearrange your graveyard" phase and the "Take that back" phase. Jim Chapman, an Indiana native famous for his virginity, was quoted as saying, "We don't play with phases, they just get in the way."

Nick Little, a local player with Pro tour experience, took time out of his busy day of "explaining stupid shit to kids" to state, "Second main phase, your kidding, right? I just got done arguing with a kid that the set number was not a secret power/toughness. Today alone I was asked 'What set was mirage in?', 'Why wouldn't you just use a couple Urza's Towers?', and 'Is echo like haste or damage?'"

Nick Little then commented, "The next kid that says he's casting a mountain gets thrown in a fucking dumpster."
