Kai Budde Prepares for JSS Run
Cologne, Germany - Kai Budde is the undisputed king of Magic. After taking the crown in the Osaka Masters series, Budde has won every major event in competitive Magic. Everything, that is, except the Junior Super Series. It is not likely to remain this way for long, though. In a press conference last Tuesday outside of his thousand-acre country mansion, the German Juggernaut announced plans to add the JSS title to his considerable resume.
MiseTings reporters contacted Budde via phone call to discuss the historic undertaking. "It's the next logical step," said Budde, as he idly saved an infant from a burning building and single-handedly defeated a band of armed bank robbers, all the while whistling a happy tune. "Without this championship, my career will always have a black cloud hanging over it. If I don't capture the JSS title, my game will be incomplete." Budde also expressed hopes of winning a much-needed $1000 scholarship, to help pay for college.
Sources close to Budde assured reporters that the champion is taking the JSS Championship very seriously, going so far as to skip GP Barcelona just to prepare for the qualifying events. Budde has also broken from his normal routine of relaxing in swimming pools full of money and Pro Tour trophies to spend more time diligently reading JSS strategy sites such as Break the Format.
Observers have pointed out that eligibility requirements may prove to be a major hurdle, but the superhuman Budde is determined to let nothing stand in his way. Under his plan, Budde will curl up into a tiny ball and be encased in an artificial womb that is currently being developed in a private lab that Budde recently purchased with his Pro Tour winnings. The womb will then be inserted into the abdomen of embattled Godzilla teammate Scott Johns, who will be paid $15 for services rendered. Once there, Budde will gestate for a period of nine months until his birth on US soil sometime next spring. With citizenship under his belt and his age reset to under 15, Budde expressed confidence that it will only be a matter of time until the JSS Championship is his.
Budde is already all but pencilled in as next year's champ, and speculation has already begun as to what is next for the soon-to-be JSS king. "The first thing I will do with my winnings is sign up for Brainburst Premium, which I will finally be able to afford," Budde mused. "After that, I suppose I will go after the records of Kevin Chi Ho Tse Esq, Kurt Hahn and Mike Pustilnik. I may even go for the title of Sol 'The World's Greatest' Malka and become People's Champion, but I don't want to look too far ahead."
Malka could not be reached for comment regarding the impending threat to his crown, as he was too busy delivering a victory speech to the millions of adoring fans who had congregated in his imagination for the fourth consecutive week to praise his GP Tampa win.
