Fatman DQed at PTQ, Eagerly Awaits Banishment

By: zelda78 - October 25, 2002

Niles, IL -- On October 19 at a PTQ at Pastimes in Niles, IL (a Chicago suburb), Wisconsin resident Kurtis "Fatman" Hahn overheard his friend and fellow Wisconsinite Dan Flood bragging about his Round 2, 2-0 victory over Michael Dove. According to Hahn on the Team Academy website, Flood then bragged to Mike Krumb about this match.

Hahn began trash-talking to Dove, but Dove told him to suck his dick, something that Hahn declined. Later in the same round, as Dove was walking out for lunch, Hahn decides to take matters into his own hands and clocked him with a bottle of Minute Maid. Hahn's behavior stunned everyone including the store owner Alan Hoachman. As Hahn left the building to mise some lunch, he received congratulations from friends and players that don't like Dove at all, in fact of Dove's known history to whine when he is losing badly.

When the pairings were posted for Round 3, Hahn was intercepted by Hoachman, who informed him that he was disqualified from the event and banned from the store. When writing his latest rant, he bragged about his past run-ins which included 3 DQ's from DCI Sanctioned events, including 1998 Regionals in Milwaukee and Grand Prix Tampa. In addition, Hahn admitted that he has been handed unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the past, but did not speculate on how many.

Since the DQ, rumors have been flying around the midwest that Hahn has been banned from events in Pastimes stores. Nobody has confirmed or denied if Hahn has also been told to stay home for the next midwest PTQs in Grand Rapids on Oct. 26 and St. Charles, MO on Nov. 16. However, Hahn expects to receive a +b from the DCI sometime after GP Philadelphia and before PT Chicago '03.

On October 24, Hahn called out new DCI head cheese John Grant to read his 'PTQ Report' on Team Academy. Grant has not returned any of Hahn's emails in regards to this event. If Hahn gets suspended, it would be the third person with known ties to Team Academy to be banned by the DCI in 2002. Mouth was handed a 2-year ban in March for adding a Faceless Butcher to his sealed deck, and David Franco joined Mouth less than 2 months later when he got banned for his assault on Adrian Sullivan at PT NY 2001.
