Brainburst Premium to follow Wizard's Lead With Price Increase
Noted strategy site, Brainburst.com, issued a press release today stating their intent to follow the lead of Wizards of the Coast and increase their prices. Brainburst, a website offers users a “Premium Membership” which offers strategy advice from such magic greats as Zvi Mowshowitz, Zvi Mowshowitz and of course, groundbreaking works by Zvi Mowshowitz. The subscription, which costs 30 bazillion dollars a year (less than a jillion dollars an article as they are quick to point out), is raising the yearly membership fee to 1.8 quintillianjillionfrillion dollars.
Brainburst cites its motivation for raising its price as the rise in booster pack prices from $3.29 to $3.69 as of the release of the next expansion in the Mirrodin block, Darksteel, going on to explain that if those bastards at Wizards can gouge people an extra forty cents on something as dumb as virtual packs that cost them nothing to manufacture in the first place just to keep even with their paper price increase, Brainburst can charge even more for something just as shady and resented.
Brainburst henchman Zvi Mowshowitz had this to saw about the increase, “I like it, I really do. I think that the public still receives a great deal of information that is crucial to their gaming progress for what is really still a fair price. The information gleaned here will let any player have the knowledge it will take to make it on the gravy train, or at least go 3-2 drop at their next PTQ. Hopefully with the revenue raised we will be able to launch a sister site, CyberPunkPremium.com.”
When asked for further comment, Zvi instructed me to subscribe to the Premium service and to write him for his next mailbag article, something he says he tries to do to “allow the average peon the chance to brush shoulders with a god.” He went on to say, “Everybody should just hope that Cyber Punk takes off, as otherwise I will have to resort to such things as writing articles for ‘Welfare Premium’, or ‘Suicide Premium.’”
