DCI Announces New Player Rewards Cards
SEATTLE, Washington -- Due to the strong reception to personal cards for Magic Invitational winners, the DCI has announced a new punishment for the most savage cheaters amongst the Magic Community. The DCI will pick a cheater quarterly for foil versions of staple out-of-print cards with new artwork depicting the cheater being killed to be given away in the Player Rewards program to players who have participated in 20 sanctioned tourneys.
Player response for the new cards has been mixed. Some are excited, such as New York player Adam Gonthier. "I can't wait to pick up my foil Incinerate where Ryan Fuller gets torched! I only need to do three drafts at the next PTQ and I'll have enough," said Gonthier.
Others believe that these cards would be unacceptable. Ed Fear, on the verge of coming off of his one year suspension, said "Not being able to play Magic since PT Chicago has sucked, but I'd still risk it to get my picture on Lhurgoyf."
"Publically desecrating the image of cheaters puts them in the spotlight and a very uncomfortable position," said Chris Zantides, DCI Policy manager, "I think Mike Long being crushed by the Black Vise sends a pretty clear message."
