Gamer Writes One Millionth Unfunny Article About Kai Budde

By: markdash - January 08, 2002

Orlando, FL — With a click of his mouse, local gamer and internet Magic writer Steve Grossberg submitted the one millionth unfunny article about Kai Budde to magic humor site Misetings.com.

Budde, who in the last six months has dazzled the world of Magic with three Pro Tour wins, has been the subject of a record number of submissions. Most of them follow a simple pattern: 1) Mention that Kai is either unstoppable, invincible, or a juggernaut; 2) Give Kai a completely absurd and ridiculous nickname such as "Kaiz0r the miz0r," "The Buddenator," or "Budde Holly"; 3) Have Kai lament the fact that his success in Magic has not allowed him to bed a single modest-or-better woman; 4) Let Kai contact a deity, such as God, Satan, or Natalie Portman.

Grossberg developed his golden idea after reading a similar article in which Budde, known as "King Kai," calls God on the telephone and laments his inability to sleep with Natalie Portman. "It just hit me all of a sudden," mentioned an excited Grossberg. "There had not been a single article in which Kai was called 'Budde the Kid.' I came up with this cool western motif where Kai walks into this saloon and shoots Finkel and Mike Long, and then walks into the sunset."

The vast majority of such articles do not leave the darkest recesses of Mike Bregoli's inbox, much to the relief of Amnesty International and the Red Cross. A scant few, however, made it past the rigorous Misetings.com screening process and appeared on the website's front page — each and every one of them devoid of any humor whatsoever.

The record, which now stands at well over 1,100,000, easily shattered the marks formerly held by Jon Finkel (772,956) and Mike Long (521,770). Even more disturbing is the fact that the rate of appearance of these articles is increasing by the day, despite the fact that the subject of Budde has been throroughly exhausted.

Repeated calls to Budde's ivory tower were not returned. Readers and writers alike are advised to write about someone else for a change, you unoriginal bastards.
