Player Who Needs Archaeological Dig Too Embarassed To Ask

St. Louis Park, Minnesota — An uncomfortable moment passed last Friday during the weekly Standard tournament at Dreamers card shop, the premiere Magic store in the state of Minnesota, witnesses reported. The incident occurred during a routine trade between local players Josh Alexander and Luke Fleming, when Alexander reportedly lingered on Peterson's two Archaeological Digs that he needed for a deck, but was ultimately too ashamed to trade for them.

"Man, this sucks," said Alexander following the incident. "I need [the Archaeological Digs] for my Standard deck, but I can't ask for them because then everyone will think I'm a scrub who plays with pile cards. Jeez, how does anyone expect me to keep those old crappy Invasion uncommons, anyway?"

According to witnesses, Alexander was later seen rooting through the bin of commons and uncommons, glancing furtively around the room to see if anyone was watching. "It's for a good deck, I swear," Alexander later explained to his friend Eric Simons. "There's this one Balancing Act/Terravore deck that some good people were using at the Gateway; I would never use it otherwise." Simons later pointed out the three copies of Archaeological Dig in the store display case, selling for 25 cents each. Alexander was seen to finger his wallet, but after seeing store owner and top Minnesota player Jason Webster running the cash register, reluctantly turned away and went to watch a match in progress.

The deck in question, titled Balancing Tings, was indeed run by several name players in the San Diego Masters Gateway, including Mike Turian and Andy Stokinger. This fact did not deter ridiculers, who mocked Alexander for many days after learning of the incident. "Josh is such a scrub sometimes," commented Tim Thomas, a local player with two career Pro points. "Who plays with that crap anyway? I mean, Archaelogical Dig? Talk about a random." Thomas then excused himself to try to trade for two copies of Battle of Wits.
