Vallejo Signed for Future Set
Wizards of the Coast announced today that premier fantasy artist Boris Vallejo has been commissioned to create the artwork for many cards in a upcoming Magic the Gathering set. Known for his vast imagination and shapely female forms, Vallejo is regarded by some as the top fantasy artist in the world.
WotC's Mark Rosewater commented on the exciting development. "We are very proud of our decision to hire Mr. Vallejo as a Magic artist. For some time, our players have been complaining about a decline in the quality of the Magic artwork. We feel that behind Boris, we can usher in a new era of top-notch art in Magic. Plus, there's gonna be naked chicks and stuff!"
Rosewater declined to name the cards that Vallejo would be responsible for. However, he was able to supply some of the R&D codenames used in development and testing. The names given were: Tied-Down Naked Chick, Almost Naked Amazon, Extremely Naked Angel, and Semi-Obscured Naked Elf Babe.
Experts are at a loss to explain this major turn in Magic artwork, but rumor suggests that it was prompted by the fact that nobody plays the modest new 7th Ed. Serra Angel, but the older, low-cut Angel was quite popular.
