Sideboard Suffers from MOL Addiction

By: slanter - February 10, 2002

Wizards of the Coast's official webiste for top level magic, The Sideboard has shown a marked downturn in content recently. Previously, the drag was attributed to the lack of premier events and concentration on the new, more novice-friendly site, www.magicthegathering.com. But now, inside Wizards' sources claim that they can't budge the writing staff away from their computers and the Magic Online beta test.

"It's a mess", said the anonymous source. "Wise has been saying 'just one more draft' for over a week now. He has a pile of pizza boxes on the floor near his desk almost to the ceiling. It's rather disgusting. And Shvartsman is no better. He was babbling something yesterday about cornering the 7th Ed painland market." When asked about Zvi Mowshowitz, the source simply muttered, "don't get me started on Zvi..."

With the absence of their mainstays, The Sideboard staff has been trying to establish a new crop of writers. Occasional contributors Toby Watcher, Mike Flores and Brian Kibler were solicited for material during the absence of the regulars. Unfortunately, all three were busy crushing all comers in emperor games.

While Sideboard staff continue to seek out top-level writers, the Sideboard may in fact be put on temporary hiatus until the next major event. Or until the beta ends and full retail prices kick in. Whichever comes first.
