Valentine's Day Quietly Comes, Goes, For World's Magic Players

Associated Press - For yet another year, Valentine's Day has quietly and uneventfully passed for millions of Magic players worldwide. The popular holiday, better known to most Magic players as "Thursday," is meant as a day for people to be with their significant others, and is typically celebrated with such tokens of affection as red flowers, chocolates, and jewelry.

Greeting cards sporting such touching phrases as "Thinking of you" and "Be mine" are also popular on Valentine's Day. However, this Valentine's day top-selling card among Magic players was, as expected, Call of the Herd. Of the estimated 18 Magic players worldwide who purchased a Valentine's Day gift for a loved one, the most popular item for the fourth consecutive year was a red teddy bear sporting the phrase "A restraining order can't stop true love."

While the specific methods of celebration vary across cultures, a survey revealed that approximately 97% of the world's Magic players had "no plans" for Valentine's Day. The remaining 3% responded that they would commemorate the day by "maybe going to the Thursday night draft, if I can score a ride from my parents."
