Beloved Chaplain Killed by Lightning Bolt
Local monk and Beloved Chaplain Sonny “Bob” Harrison died while on a nature hike this past Saturday when a Lightning Bolt mysteriously struck him. Authorities are baffled by this since it was a cloudless day.
According to Harrison’s associates, the day started out like many others. “We often go on hikes with Brother Harrison,” said Master Healer Gregg Chen. “He’s great to take along because he has protection from creatures. So, we don’t have to worry about being attacked by any beasts or elephants or snakes. He just kinda steps up if things get hairy.”
“We were walking along in a fairly remote area of the Ceta Sanctuary. Being in the woods like that is a very good way to calm the spirit, so we try to go once a week. Walking is also great exercise,” recalls Devoted Caretaker Lillian Evinrude. “All of a sudden, from out of the clear blue sky came these three points of damage. It was just so frustrating. I couldn’t protect him from sorceries and instants because he has . . . HAD taken the vow of protection from creatures. The same went for Brother Chen. He wanted to prevent the next four damage to our Beloved Chaplain, but Brother Harrison’s vows didn’t allow it. If only one of us had brought our Shelter.”
Local Police Chief Bubba Joe Hopkins says that they have several leads. Likely suspects include a Grim Lavamancer who held a grudge against the order because of the Circle of Protection: Red that had recently been erected and an escaped mental patient named Braids against whom Brother Harrison had gotten a restraining order at the end of last year.
Brother Harrison’s reported last words were “Well, crap.”
