Good Man of the Week: Brian Hegstad

By: KK - May 27, 2002

Look out ladies, Brian Hegstad is on the prowl...

Brian first came into the public eye with a top 8 finish in the 2nd Grand Prix Boston. Later that year he joined fellow new kid on the block Eugene Harvey on a young but talented US National team. Yes it was two wannabes and a has been against the world.

Despite an abysmal day 1 Team USA climbed all the way back to steal the title for another year. Brian, widely known for his prowess in the game, is quite the personality outside of the game.

I first met Brian in the wild streets of New Orleans. From the moment I saw my little angel, I knew he had to be mine. That tall thin body in the tightest of shirts dressed like an angel. My heart skipped a beat. I knew that this was the man of my dreams. I only met him briefly, but soon fate would draw us together.

After Pro-Tour Nice I realized that my GMOTW articles had become extremely popular. I had many people asking me to be the next good man. When I got home I got a message on the IRC:

Hegstad: <------ is a good man, hint hint.”

(This was my chance. )

KKrouner: but I don’t know much about you.
Hegstad: Well you’ll just have to IM me and get to know me better.

I was in. This was great. I would finally get closer to the love of my life.

In the days that followed we would spend many a night chatting and even one night on the phone until 7am.

Someday he may be mine and mine alone, but for now, he is Good Man of the Week.
