Rosewater Makes One-Billionth "Roseanne" Namedrop

By: Slanter - June 11, 2002

Renton, WA - In a lunchtime conversation with editor Aaron Forsythe, lead designer Mark Rosewater made his one-billionth documented reference to his Hollywood comedy writing past. Discussing whether or not to hold a comedy themed week on their flagship site, MagictheGathering.com, Rosewater mentioned, "once when I was writing for Roseanne, we had a parallel discussion on whether to write an episode about DJ playing geeky fantasy games." Forsythe promptly groaned, as he has heard everyone of these stories five times already at least.

WotC is thrilled to have such a widely repeated connection between their Magic the Gathering game and the successful sitcom. Plans are under works to get an official endorsement deal with Roseanne veteran Sara Gilbert as the start of a whole new marketing push.

When asked for comment on his momentous milestone, Rosewater quipped "Wow, that reminds me of the episode I wrote where Dan was counting up to his one millionth bag of potato chips..." Rosewater was not asked for any further comments.
