Players You've Heard Of Do Not Win Nationals

By: dbuel - June 14, 2002

Continuing in its tradition of Magic: The Gathering professional event coverage, Sideboard Magazine Online reported this week that famous players Jon Finkel and Mike Long did not win U.S. Nationals.

Some other player won, Sideboard reported.

Finkel finished in the top 16, and Long finished within the top eight players, according to journalist Alex Shvartsman.

"Some other players did some interesting things at U.S. Nationals, such as 'win' and 'make the finals,' " Shvartsman said. "I mentioned them in my column, but perhaps our main page will lead off with them in a future retrospective, should they become famous or notorious."

Sideboard's mission is to bring fresh news of famous and notorious Magic players each week and entertain with trivia games and strategy articles, as well as briefly mention the opponents of famous players.

"Whether it's when Michelle Bush performs well but gets defeated in a grand prix by some guy, or when some other dude was last year's world champion while Kai Budde became player of the year, you can count on Sideboard to be there," said publisher Jeff Donais.
