Good Man of the Week: Jeff Fung
Jeff Fung has been a staple on the Pro Tour since he top 4’d Chicago back in the day. Of course by “staple” I mean “guy who fell off the train and took forever to win another match.”
Jeff’s ambiguity reaches back to the days when US Nationals was held at Origins. Not a gamer could walk by without receive a hug from the one and only Fungasaur. Heck, I didn’t even know the man, but my friendship with the speds was good enough to land me a bigger hug than any gamer had ever given me.
Never one to pass up a good ass grabbing, Fung has fondled more gamers than the prostitutes in Las Vegas. Why Nice would have been completely unexciting had Jeff not been there to fondle my buttocks.
Perhaps my fondest memory of this little Asian that could is a little game I like to call “KK, Bregoli, and Fung try to hit a sleeping Kibler in the head with cards.” Now in this game KK, Bregoli, and Fung try to hit a sleeping Kibler in the head with cards. This games only forum to date is the Holiday Inn in Columbus. It was a daring race to 10 I started up 8 to Mike’s 2 and Jeff’s 0. But Fung would not give up. Just as though he were being pinged with a Prodigal Sorcerer, he gained power and momentum. He came all the way back to win it 10-8-6.
As my money draft partner of choice in Nice, we teamed with everyone from Turian, to Neil Reeves, to the Silent Assassin himself Jens Thoren. Jens, Jeff and I only managed to win 2 of the 2 drafts we did, but not for lack of trying by Jens. Jeff I believe managed to win a couple matches, but his moral support was invaluable.
As lovable as a teddy bear, kind hearted as a saint, and skilled at Magic as a dead sloth, Jeff Fung is this week’s Good Man of the Week.
