Sped Lingo

Cold - this word is commonly used and can have many different meanings. First it can refer to someone physically being "cold" (sleeping). For example in PT Mainz Feming Chan was out COLD wherever we saw him. Cold may also be used to mean like someone who dosent have a clue or someone you just served the BBE (biggest beating ever) to. For example, My opponent was so COLD when I casted Geddon.

Best - Best is another commonly used sped buzz word. It is basically used to describe a trait someone has that they are quite good at. For example, Adam Lemke is BEST cold, which means Adam Lemke always sleeps, much more than anyone else. It may also be used in conjunction with "gay" to descibe an event (usually in the coarse of a magic game) that sucked. For example, My opponent drew three ball lightning against me, that was best gay. One guy, from somewhere in Asia, was at a pro tour and obviously did not speak English very well. Adam Lemke has a Skyshroud Vamp, Bellowing Fiend and a Flowstone Wyvern out against him and his opponent says "you best 3/3 Flier" This was hilarious.

Random Mexican - This phrase had its origins at the hands of the great Gaming Jim (GJ). We were once at a tourny for a box of legends that needed 16 people to go off, but we only had 8 or so. So GJ says "What if we take 8 random mexicans off the street and pay for them?" This term is in no way racial or biest, we just find it funny and use it often. It basically describes and random chumly present at a tournament, regardless or race, color etc. . .

GAS - quite possibly one of the most versatile sped words. This word works in so many situations. It usually is used to desribe something gaseous that is occuring. For example, It was GAS when I ritual out a hippie turn 1 and it didnt get killed. It is also used to descibe Team Sped's "Swamp Gas" deck, posted on the dojo decks to beat May 98. For example, There were many forms of gas at the New England regionals. This means that there were many "swamp gas" variants at the NE regionals.

pure OCTANE - this is a spin off of the word gas. Octane is one of the most gaseous gasses and can be used to describe anything that is extrememly gaseous. For example, against mono red BG's (Bottle Gnomes) are pure OCTANE.

random-just a wicked random word that is best random.

TD-this term stands for the popular phrase "top deck." It can be used to desribe an actual TD in magic or in real life. For example, We need to TD BK (burger king) REAL QUICK. This phrase pretty much means we are Best BK real soon. In magic, TD can be used like, I wicked need to TD my roll.

REAL QUICK- mostly everything that happens when you are with Team Sped happens REAL QUICK. For example, I was 4-0 REAL QUICK in Pro Tour NY and 5-0 REAL QUICK in Pro Tour Chicago. It may also be used outside of magic if you feel the need to TD something REAL QUICK.

Kart- quite possibly the most broken game outside of Magic. Kart rules. You will often hear a Sped member say "You dude, Kart?" That is pretty much just a random phrase. No explaination.

the DSI- The DSI (dueling spedage international)is a way Team Sped sanctions their ever famous "broken drafts." It is so gaseous and can be experienced by all if you just go up to any member of sped and say "You dude, DSI?"

Pack- refers to someone who is cold (losing) in a game or match of magic. For example, I packed up the random mexican REAL QUICK.

This Guy-Used to descibe something wicked random that is happening. Like if your opponent has 0 cards in his hand and TD's a living death you say "This guy" or occasionally "whatever this guy"

House- I believe that the word "house" was created by Jamie Parke and Joe Weber, some time in 96'. A house is used to describe a card or someone. When describing a card, a house usually refers to any creature of power/toughness 3/3 or more, except for 5th ed. where an aysen beuracrat was a HOUSE. It may be used to describe a physically large person or just a pretty good TD.

BBE- Biggest Beatdown Ever- many people use this phrase now, I think it is pretty gaseous if you ask me.

8/8- pretty much used as a random number to describe any house either player has out. FOr example how big is your maro? It is always an 8/8 even if it is like a 2/2. There is a chance even a trapan is an 8/8 occasionally! The number 8 can also be used when your opponent asks how many cards in your hand? You should always say 8, when the time is right!

SUMMON- You can summon practically anything, including land, depending on how much of a house it is. You can usually tell if someone is summoning if there is a violent slamming of a card on the table.

SERVE- Just to bring forth a pretty good B (beatdown) ya know. Like if you bring with two lancers, you are serving, quite possibly even the BBE.

Summon, Serve, Pack- This was a sped motto for a long time. This is pretty much what we usually do. We summon, we serve and you pack, usually REAL QUICK!

MMM Gaseous- We used to say that something was SOME gaseous, but it was quickly we quickly adopted the phrase mmmmm Gaseous. For example, "swamp gas" is mmmm gaseous. It can also be used to describe a place, like Planet Hollywood in NY is mmmm gaseous and a pretty good TD.

toids-used to refer to the curiously strong peppermint know as altoids. These toids are mmm gaseous and whenever you have one you either pop it or TD it.

There are also many cards that team sped has nicknames for, some are listed below. .

Gas Mask - used to refer to the card Light of Day. It is an anti "swamp gas" card and a pretty good TD so we call it Gas Mask.

God- Ihsan Shade- because it is a freakin 8/8 that cant be plowed, god-like!

Sippage- Souldrinker - it is called that because for every three life you pay, that is one sip you get out of the drink. remember: you may not pay more life than you have so it is pretty tough to be infine sip, unless if you have corpse, bottle, buyback! Infinite sip is like a mecca that all spedage tries to acheive at one time or another. We draft sippage like first over anything just for the possibility of infinite sip!

Underwear- Conviction- smaller than its brother Heros Resolve (fat pants) and you only take it off when you are getting fucked :-)

Pupage-Jackal Pup-just cuz it is the BBE and has to end with "age"

Slivage-any sliver

MOTHER- Orim, Samite Bitch- because she is a mother and a house, what a B.Ting and whenever you summer her dont forget to say "Muuuther"
