Ask Kai

By: OupheKing - August 09, 2002

Ask Kai is a new column on www.magicthegathering.com. Kai Budde will be answering players' questions in order to help them get better at the game. He will also be answering miscellaneous questions regarding Magic.

- Mark Rosewater

Thanks to Wizards for hiring me to do this new column for www.magicthegathering.com. I'm sure I'll be able to help lots of people with their questions.

Anyways, here's the first question I received:

Dear Kai:

I was wondering what your invitational card is going to look like when it's released in Onslaught this fall.

From Dave Jammerbom

Dave,

I am not at liberty to discuss this. Thanks for the question!

Here's the next question I received:

Hello Kai, what do you think the best OBC deck is?

From Ralph Jackson

Thanks for asking Kai, Ralph! Unfortunately, I'd rather not answer your question.

Here's my last question of the column:

Hi Kai! My friend and I have an argument that we'd like you to resolve. I'm playing in a draft and my deck has multiple bombs like Kirtar's Wrath, Violent Eruption and Swelter. It's game one of the first match, and my opponent Book Burnings me. However, I have a Pilgrim of Justice on the board. So I decided to sacrifice the Pilgrim so that my opponent wouldn't get the chance to see the bombs in my deck. However, my friend said to just let the Book Burning resolve, as information is not worth a creature on the board, especially a Pro Red one against a Red deck. Who's right?

Nick

Well Nick, that's an interesting scenario. Are you planning to go to any limited Pro Tours in the near future? Because if so, I can't give you the answer to your question. Actually, even if you're not, I'd rather not answer it. Thanks for Asking Kai!

Well, that wraps up this week's edition of Ask Kai. Please keep writing to me so I can keep helping out the community!
