Crowd Horrified As Jacko Owns Baby
BERLIN -- A crowd of fans who had gathered to see singer Michael Jackson were stunned when the pop star demonstrated a complete and utter ownership of his infant son by dangling him from a fourth-floor hotel balcony Tuesday.
The owning occurred as fans and well-wishers waited outside Jackson's Adlon Hotel window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the singing and dancing star. As fans screamed for Jackson, the singer appeared on the balcony, went inside and then returned with his infant son, who had a white towel draped over his head.
Jackson, who was in Berlin to accept a lifetime achievement award, then proceeded to completely own his son.
"I own this baby," Jackson called to the crowd below. "See how I completely own my beautiful, beautiful son!"
The cheering crowd became noticeably stunned when Jackson owned the baby, witnesses said.
"I can't believe how Michael totally owned that baby," said one unnamed fan on the street. "It was as if he was saying, 'I own this baby and I can do what I want with it.' That baby couldn't do anything."
People around the world reacted to photographs of the event.
"It reminds me of the way I owned the Top Eight at Pro Tour Houston," said professional Magic: The Gathering player Justin Gary. "I mean, I don't want to make it sound too easy, because Robert (Dougherty) and I did go to game five. Rob played great that weekend. But once game five started, my unique brand of Turbo-Oath dangled Rob's Reanimator off of a fourth-floor balcony."
"And John (Larkin), too," Gary said. "I really put a white towel over his head that weekend."
Jackson's complete ownership of his baby is the latest in a string of controversies that have surrounded the pop star over many years.
The previous week, Jackson had testified in a $21 million lawsuit that accused him of pulling out of two millennium concerts in 1999.
Jackson's testimony in the suit was overshadowed by his physical appearance. Jackson had first arrived in court wearing his trademark surgical mask, but the judge in the case had ordered Jackson to remove it while testifying. Gasps among the courtroom audience were prompted when Jackson removed the mask, revealing that he had been given -4/-4 by an unnamed team of plastic surgeons.
"Clearly these surgeons controlled four Swamps when they Mutilated poor Michael," said publicist Tina Gaffney. "It's terrible, and I think someone should be held responsible. I don't know how Michael has survived, with the scars, the constant media focus on him and the fact that he really doesn't seem like he should have a 5 toughness.
"Michael has had to fight a skin condition and a lot of other things in his life, and the -4/-4 of a four-Swamp Mutilate can't be helpful to either him or his fans who still love him," Gaffney said.
"Especially when some sort of mid-career Mind Sludge led to Michael's fateful decision to start letting young boys spend the night at his house," she said. "He really should have been worried about control."
Jackson, who later said that the owning of his baby had been "a terrible mistake," is due back in court next week.
