Good Man of the Week: Jens Thoren
I am not a bigot I swear, at least not intentionally. I didn’t realize that all the Good Men of the Week were from North America. I know Gary lived in England when he got the award, but come on, we know he is a dirty canuck.
This week I am going to give the award to my favorite European of all. Jens Thoren. The Silent Assassin from Sweden has been terrorizing the Pro scene since his top 2 finish in San Diego. The very next PT he managed to top 4. Since then he has top 8’d GPs, won the Invitational, and won Masters. If only the man would stop talking.
From IRC to tournaments his lips don’t stop flapping. I mean I will be playing my match from the middle of the floor and I will hear this constant stream of chatter coming from the one Swede in the world who is not naturally blond. Don’t get me wrong, the man is still sexy as hell, but dear lord. It is like going on a date with a Chatty Cathy doll with one of those strings you pull and it snaps back and it talks. Only I don’t pull the string, he does.
Now despite winning Masters and the Invitational, Jens is in danger of falling off the train. He has become so engrossed in his fame and power, that he has let his PT game slip. I mean he is falling apart. I did a money draft with him in Houston, and he had the nerve to not 3-0. I swear some people just don’t want to carry their weight. One thing I can say for Jens is that he is funny. I mean the man can crack a mean joke. Check this except from one of our IRC conversations:
<KKrouner> OMG Jens you are my hero!!!!!!!
<thoren> bbl
<thoren> I am going to the gym
This had me in stitches for hours. I think this is also an example of just how close we are as friends. In any case, the fact that Jens is having trouble with those day twos just means that the money draft dream team of Fung, Krouner, Thoren can battle on for PTs to come… Until we all fall off the train…. GUN LAST!
So for his contributions to my pocket in the form of money draft winnings, and for a smile that could melt a snowman’s heart. I award Jens Thoren Good Man of the Week.
