Good Men of the Week: Matt Linde and Baby Huey
I have always liked Matt Linde and William Jensen. From the first time I met Huey we were friendly. Matt and I shared a poker table at Origins the year Kyle won Nationals and became pretty good friends. In fact they have always been two of my favorite people on the Pro Tour.
This preemptive GMOTW honor comes on the tails of one of the best weeks I have had since playing Magic. I spent a solid week in New Orleans primarily hanging out with Matt and Huey. I got closer to them than I have to anyone in a while and I feel that they truly deserve this honor.
Now I know I will take a lot of heat for this, but I honestly could care less. I waited far too long to give either of them the award so I feel the need to reiterate how great these two guys are.
Any of you who have experienced the presence that is William Jensen know that he is a gentle soul. Sure he may seem brash callous and arrogant, but in actuality he is callous brash and arrogant. He thinks the world of himself, but sadly I can’t hold that against him as I think the same thing about him.
The only one either of us holds in higher regard is Matt. Matt was basically our social coordinator. We couldn’t do anything without his approval, but he never let this power go to his head. I only wish he knew how to play Magic so my deck could have done better at the GP.
Perhaps the most admirable trait about these two, however, is that they are best friends for life. I have never met two people who are closer, and they truly made my time in New Orleans as fun as it could be.
So for all these reasons and countless more, I award the first ever dual Good Man of the Week!
