Foil Collector Happy With New 8E Design

AP - Savannah, GA -- After learning that Wizards of the Coast would be changing the Magic: The Gathering card face to make cooler-looking foils, 10-year-old Billy Hampton of Savannah pumped his fist in a joyous frenzy.

"Yes! Yes!" young Billy exclaimed in an exclusive statement from his local card store. "I'm always telling my friends how much cooler Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh foils look than Magic's. I'm glad they finally did something about it!"

As Billy took a victory lap around the counter, the owner of the store, Albert Jacksonian, could only shake his head sadly.

"Billy's the only person I've had in here that's actually happy about the new design. Most of the players say something like, "What the [expletive]?" or "Why don't they just stick a knife in my back?" or "That's it, I quit." Poor Billy just doesn't have the common sense to know any better."

Jacksonian gave a wistful sigh.

"Of course, I gotta love the kid. He's single-handedly keeping me in business. He bought a foil Cabal Trainee from me yesterday for $5. If it weren't for him and his animal-like attraction to shiny things, I might have to sell my own children into slavery."

At this point, Billy had calmed down enough to speak once more.

"Yay! I own 35 Magic foils now, and I'm sure they'll all go up in value once everybody sees how much they like the NEW foils! One guy even gave me a foil Impulsive Maneuvers for free! It was SO COOL!!! 8th Edition is the best set EVER!!!"

At this point in time, Billy's mother showed up, gave him his Ritalin, and escorted him out of the store so he could attend his gymnastics lesson.
