New Art Style to Go With New Layout

Hiroshima, Japan -- Over the course of GP: Hiroshima, Wizards has begun to unveil some of the new card art from the upcoming new set, Bacon. As well as showing off the art, Wizards has revealed the official set name to be "Yu-Gi-Mon". This set will be one of the first to use the new layout and new art.

As for the story, Wizards has decided to change the story to a new setting instead of the whole Kamahl / Phage / Akroma war. After talking to a few employees, this reporter has ascertained that the new story takes place in the year 40,654, and that people battle each other in giant arenas with robots that morph into airplanes.

When asked why they were changing the cards art requirements from a fantasy feel to an anime style, they stated "We just wanted it to look more Japanese than the other card games, because as everyone knows Japanese pictures look even better when the card is a foil."

After receiving a question about asking the actual players first, Mark Rosewater stated, "I think the people should just trust us. Everyone doubted the Odyssey was going to be good, and look at how well the Block Constructed season was! And not to mention how many cards from Legions are being used in standard decks." However moments after giving this statement, Rosewater quickly changed "standard decks" to "OnBC decks" without hoping anyone would notice.

Buehler also stated that they had, in fact, asked players about whether they should change the art style as well. "We went ahead and asked Pro Tour players, as well as people who work for our company." Some of the reporters were unfamiliar with the concept of a Pro Tour player, so Buehler summed it up by saying, "[a Pro Tour player] was someone who received money from the company for playing in large tournaments. Much like the employees, who are also paid by the company, we thought that they would have the best opinions."
