Coalition Captures Eight Of Spades, Weaver Of Lies
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Central Command confirmed at the end of last week that it had managed to capture former Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz, known as the Eight of Spades in the Coalition's 55-card deck of wanted Iraqi leaders.
Centcom officials, who would not release details of Aziz's apprehension, also said Sunday that they had captured the Weaver of Lies, another one of the cards that U.S. forces had been seeking.
The Eight of Spades, Aziz, was Iraq's foreign minister during the 1991 Persian Gulf War and was serving as deputy prime minister up until an uncertain point in time as the war began. Weaver of Lies is a blue 4/4 beast creature with a converted mana cost of seven.
It has Morph, officials said.
"The capture of Aziz and Weaver of Lies brings the total number of apprehended, most-wanted cards to 13," said Central Command Chief Gen. Tommy Franks. "Our orders are that we've gotta catch 'em all, and that's just what we're going to do."
"Weaver of Lies was extremely easy to capture," Franks said, because it's in a precon. Franks said that the most sought-after and hard-to-find cards at this time are either Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, known as the Ace of Spades, or perhaps a foil Seventh Edition Birds of Paradise.
Franks said he also needs a couple of Workshops.
"As one of Iraq's most public figures before the war began, Aziz is a key individual for us to have apprehended," Franks said. "Although, I don't think he's playable, and in fact I think he pretty much sucks."
Also this weekend, Secretary of State Colin Powell announced that a full Iraqi spoiler was now available, and that the Iraqi FAQ would be on hand in time for the prerelease.
