Another Correction to 1800 Room

By: billisdog - August 08, 2003

RENTON, WASHINGTON- Several weeks ago, Wizards of the Coast drew the ire of many players by announcing that a special room would be available for only those online players whose Composite ratings are 1800 or higher. Since this would require the exceptional rating of 2000 in one format, or else a proficiency in both, a correction was later issued that one only needed in 1800 in either Limited or Constructed to get in. Unfortunately, this was also incorrect, and Wizards has issued a second, re-correction of this statement as of yesterday.

"What I literally sent out in the memo was that a special room should exist for those whose presence carries a certain weight," stated Randy Buehler. "The developers mistakenly interpreted this to mean players who are very skilled and therefore carry 'weight' in the online community. This was not what I meant."

"The problem was solved yesterday, and a patch has been issued that reflects my original intent," continued Buehler. "There is now a special room for those players that weigh 1800 pounds or more."

"Although we don't interfere in the business of other Magic websites, we do read them," explained Daniel Myers, who runs the Magic Online website. "And there have been intense debates lately on said sites as to the appearance, hygiene, attractiveness, and overall present-ability of the Magic public. So we decided to take action on this issue."

"The very decisive action," added Buehler, "of movin' the fat people to their own room."

The 1800+ room has been received with mixed emotions by online players. "It feels good to get those lardos out of the way!" rejoiced username b33bl3_d00d_69. "No more cramped tables, no more havin' to smell their unbathed bodies through the Internet. I just hope they go on to create the 'Scrawny Room' as well."

"Of course, the number 1800 is only on a trial basis," cautioned Buehler at the end of the statement. "We may very well raise the standard later on. We might only let the truly obese into the special room, and just give the mildly overweight these special 'fat avatars'."
