Area Man To Hold 'Mario Party Invitational' On Own TV Set
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Local resident Clyde Williams, 23, announced Friday that three of his lucky friends would be invited to a "Mario Party Invitational" tournament at Williams' own apartment later this year.
The special event would include games of "Mario Party," and would take place live on Williams' television.
"At first I was thinking, maybe I should hold a party or get-together with my friends in some really cool location, like a nice restaurant or a bar that serves good food," Williams said.
"But then I thought, hey, why not just have 'em come over to my apartment, I can give 'em some pretzels, and they can plant themselves in front of my television set," he said.
"I can make a big show of giving them 'The Grand Tour' of the old domicile," he said. "Like, here's my kitchen, here's my bedroom, alright, let's play. It's nice and easy."
The tournament would include a variety of interesting and inventive rounds, such as "Bonuses On," and "Bonuses Off," Williams said.
"There's no limit to what might happen," Williams said. "I mean, you can be Mario, or Peach, or even Donkey Kong."
Williams said that in addition to the promised pretzels, there might be some beverages for the lucky participants.
The event would have a formal prize, Williams said. The top player would be allowed to submit a sketch of his own design for a "Mario Party" character.
"Of course, someone will probably draw something that I don't really like. So then what I guess I'll do is Adobe Photoshop the winner's head onto the body of an already-existing character, print it out, and then the winner can take it home like a trophy," Williams said. "That'll be pretty neat. Who wouldn't want to come to this special event?"
