Darksteel Spoiler Clarification

By: Gisgo - December 03, 2003

Dear Readers,

Recently we at MiseTings hosted what was touted as the full Darksteel spoiler. Posted in two parts, it was a greatly entertaining read that represented a large amount of work on the part of our friend, dbuel.

Many of you read the spoiler, and believed it to be real. Admittedly, there were fewer of you than we would have liked, but you were there. A great many readers believed it to be satire, and proclaimed as such.

Have faith, you noble few! It turns out that you were right.

The spoiler was real.

Now, some of you may be wandering, "why were the names so stupid?” or, possibly, "why were there so many stupid cards?" The answer to these questions and more can be found in the explanation of The MiseTings Code.

Dbuel came into possession of the full spoiler about three weeks ago. He informed us of this, and we debated whether or not it would be ethical for us to print such a thing so far in advance, particularly in light of the services rendered so well by our colleagues at MTGNews.com.

During the course of our debate on the subject, a WotC spy, posting under the name Random-Miser (who has frequently claimed to have connections to top-ranking Wizards of the Coast employees in the past; if only we had believed him!), reported the find to the company. dbuel was ordered to disavow all knowledge of the spoiler, and not mention it further.

Now, readers, you know us. We're not ones to take orders from the man. So, dbuel and some of his closest associates set to work encoding the spoiler in such a way as to be completely indecipherable by WotC employees, while being quite plain to intelligent Magic: the Gathering players everywhere.

After receiving many confused e-mails from the Magic community, it became apparent that we would have to let everyone in on the secret.

So, in closing, kudos to you if you figured it out! If you didn't... well, keep trying! There's always Brainburst...

Best wishes,

The MiseTings Crew
