Magic Players Helping Society

By: Crunchums - January 20, 2004

In the Magic: the Gathering society, many brave and selfless acts of charity go overlooked. Everyday, altruistic scrubs and pros alike work together to help form better communities. Often, these acts are overlooked. In this article I would like to point out a few of the most generous card slingers.

Osyp Lebedowicz
Osyp inspects a player's deck
for crap rares.
A 5-year veteran of pro magic cards, Osyp Lebedowicz is in what he calls, “the real war on crap rares,” fighting craprare breakouts in everyday stores. Lebedowicz, who recently began his career as a pro, became an inspector with CMU/TOGIT in 2002. He was proud to be going to the scrub holes, where the movement of crap rares into trading binders could be stopped. He was soon a top-rated inspector, nabbing crap rare couriers before they could deliver their deadly goods.

Moderating a forum is no easy task. But moderating the MiseTings Forums is nigh impossible. Three brave souls wade through the piles of flaming sacks of shit and mind numbingly stupid posts, banning unbearably moronic retards for the good of the forums. These three respected mods are known as Cade, MB, and Paladin en-Vec. Always doing their job, these three men among men are deserving of every MiseTinger’s tongue that pathetically scrambles to lick their boots.

Sheldon Menery is a true inspiration to the ideal judge. He has a column where he answers questions so redundantly idiotic the creator of it deserves to be boiled in oil. You can’t get much dumber than: “Q: I think that Detonate can destroy the artifact lands (like Ancient Den, Seat of the Synod, and so forth) by just paying one red. Will this work, or does Detonate not work on the artifact lands?” Because of his incredible persistence in answering stupid questions, Mr. Menery is definitely a prime example of altruism personified.

There are many Magic Players that give back more than they get to society. From the scrub with whom you traded your Thorn Elemental for two Chrome Moxes, to the scrub you needed for an eighth in a draft, there are many of them who go unnoticed. If you know an unrecognized praise worthy Magic player, buy him a pie to show him you care.
