Kai Unsure How to Spend Other Two Wishes

By: JC - November 07, 2001

Hamburg, Germany -- After returning to Germany this Monday, Kai Budde, five time Pro Tour champion, faced a worrisome decision: How to best utilize the two remaining wishes bestowed upon him by the Genie of the Lamp. "I guess I could wish to win the lottery. But why? I’ve already got more money than God. I still need some foils, I guess."

Patrick Mello, longtime friend to The German Juggernaut, expressed some concern over the twice Player of the Year’s mental health: "we thought it would stop after a couple Tours. I just assumed he would use his last couple wishes on ops in #mtgwacky, or an invitational win or something. Now what? He just sits around all day trying to think of something else to accomplish, and topdecking Aces off a deck of playing cards." Mello could not mise versus Budde even when a scoop was attempted, during the semifinals in Barcelona.

"I’m just not sure where to go from here," confessed the 1999 World Champion. "When I found that lamp out in the dessert, and the genie offered me the wishes, I never expected this. It’s all so confusing." The German’s Hamburg flat has become cluttered with oversized checks, trophies, and messily jotted lists:

  • Have last name changed to Buddelicious (too fruity)
  • End war (fuck that)
  • Beat Finkel like little girl in front of all of his friends (did it)
The Twenty Six year old was overheard muttering, "Okay, I know I wished to be a savage, savage miser, but come on! Did you see that Morphling rip in game 5 against Tomi? How about that back-to-back Illusions Donate pluck versus the Hump! This is getting ridiculous! Does anyone want sleeves? I’ll wish them up for you!"

Wizards of the Coast refused comment, but has added Budde to the watch list alongside Force of Will.
